The Ticinese Art Gallery, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Pier Paolo Pasolini, inaugurates the exhibition “Meneghello meets Pasolini – Non dualism” by Simone Meneghello, where the artist carries out a radical operation on Pasolini’s texts. The poet’s words, removed from their communicative function, are transformed into autonomous presences that inhabit the surface of the work. No longer vehicles of meaning, but concrete entities where Pasolini’s texts become visual material and stratifications that preserve the memory of language. Pasolini is present in a physical and unavoidable way – his sentences, his verses and his thoughts remain integrally in the work, even though they escape reading. Meneghello neither illustrates nor interprets, but transforms writing into a field of forces where the signifier, freed from the will to signify, reveals its nature as a concrete trace. The works do not tell stories but expose the archeology of language: signs that were words, graphemes that were thoughts, surfaces that preserve the memory of all the writings that characterized them. Pasolini is physical presence, raw material subjected to a profound process of liberation from the constraints of the code. The project also illustrates the limit of language, also made evident by the work that introduces the exhibition with a text generated by a dialogue between the artist and the Ai.
